On the broad stage of the global MICE industry, sustainable development is not only our core focus but also our shared responsibility and mission. A pace-setter in the international MICE industry, RX signed the "Net Zero Carbon Events" declaration as early as 2021. This is not only our solemn commitment to the industry but also a proactive response to global climate governance.
As a founding member of this major declaration, RX is deeply aware that in today's globalized world, no single enterprise or organization could tackle the challenges of climate change alone. We, therefore, closely collaborate with the global exhibition event industry for joint commitments to reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable development. Our parent company, RELX, also upholding a strong sense of social responsibility, has signed the Climate Pledge and undertaken to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. RX will join RELX to stride towards this grand goal together.
In 2024, RX unveiled its comprehensive and detailed "net zero roadmap", providing clear guidance to achieve net-zero emission goal for our approximately 350 exhibitions across 42 industries in 25 countries. In Greater China and around the world, we leverage the global influence of our exhibition platforms, integrate the group's global resources and collaborate closely with multiple parties such as global exhibitors, visitors, service providers, partners, and media to jointly promote low-carbon and emission reduction campaign, and build truly green exhibitions. We firmly believe that through concerted efforts and collaboration on a global scale, the era of net-zero emissions will arrive sooner.
Sustainability measures:
· Production and mailing volume of visitor badges and envelopes were no more than 50% of total pre-registered visitors, representing a steady decrease in the mailing volume. All envelope mailings will be eliminated in 2025;
· Exhibition brochure: The print volume did not exceed 10% of the number of potential exhibitor companies;
· Exhibitor handbook: An electronic version was adopted;
· Exhibition proceedings: Printed proceedings have been replaced by electronic ones (Reed Connect) since the 2023 edition
Events
To boost the understanding and participation among packaging industry practitioners in sustainable development innovation and practices, we held forums with themes related to sustainable development at WEPACK 2024, including the "Sustainable Innovation" Forum, ESG & Sustainable Development Summit, Sustainable Packaging: Shenzhen Packaging Industry Innovation Spearheads Green Life, and Sustainable Development Summit Forum on Catering Supply Chain. In retrospect of these stunning sustainability moments at the exhibition, we are filled with pride and sincere gratitude for the generous support from our customers, partners, venues, and suppliers.
